About Retro Modern Design
Retro Modern (RMD) is a direct-to-consumer furniture brand selling customizable, mid-century modern sofas, sectionals, and lounge chairs online at retromodernhome.com. Founder Jeff Gold built the brand to make well-designed, customizable furniture accessible, and it serves both retail customers and the commercial and design trade.
Impact at a Glance

Program lifetime (Feb 1 to Jun 25, 2026, ongoing): 11 campaigns sent · 6 flows live · 7,087-contact list · 50%+ campaign open rate.
Objective
RMD held a list of more than 7,000 contacts, but email was contributing almost nothing to revenue: no automated flows were live, and sales depended on occasional manual sends. Selling high-ticket, customizable furniture, the brand needed a full automation system to recover high-intent shoppers and a disciplined, segmented campaign calendar to convert its existing audience, all without leaning on heavy discounting.
Strategy
Bilō Media Group built RMD's Klaviyo program from the ground up across flows, campaigns, and custom segmentation:
Flow architecture. Six live automated flows built on the FCECT Hero / Bridge / Bottom structure: welcome, browse abandon, cart abandon, checkout abandon, site abandon, and a sunset flow for list hygiene, creating an automated revenue baseline that runs without a manual send.
Segmented campaign calendar. Eleven campaigns sent on a steady cadence, targeted to engagement tiers (90, 180, and 270-day engaged segments) and a dedicated Commercial and Designers segment, leaning into RMD's design-led aesthetic to hold campaign open rates above 50%.
Deliverability and list hygiene. Custom segmentation isolating never-engaged, hard-bounce, and chronic-soft-bounce contacts, paired with a sunset flow to protect sender reputation as send volume scaled.
Outcome
The program turned a near-dormant list into one of RMD's largest revenue channels - nearly half of total store revenue - without leaning on heavy discounting.
ROAS / ROI
CA$261,867.56 in email-attributed revenue - 46.22% of total store revenue - at a CA$36.66 revenue per recipient.
Highlights
A near-dormant list turned into nearly half of revenue. With no flows live and email contributing almost nothing at the start, the rebuilt program grew email-attributed revenue 2,536% on the prior period. Automated flows alone drove CA$245,006.86 (93.56% of email revenue), led by the welcome and checkout-abandon sequences - a self-sustaining baseline that runs without a manual send.
